Panamaram: Residents of Panamaram town are perplexed over the mysterious appearance of dog carcasses in the small stream flowing nearby. As many as seven bodies were seen a few days ago. They were at least a week old. The next day, another three carcasses were found floating in the stream.

Local people informed the police, panchayat authorities, Health Department and Animal Husbandry officials but not action has been taken so far. This has led to protests. The people have taken the stand that the carcasses can be removed only after the authorities concerned arrive at the spot. They said that a post-mortem examination should be conducted to ascertain the cause of death.
