The app can be downloaded free from Play Store. Easy to use, Travel Guru has several similarities with a car-racing game. Virtual images of driving along Kerala roads, the game helps players earn points and advance to the next level. Android and IOS platforms offer an advanced graphic experience.

The app is highly beneficial for children and youth as it helps them to learn traffic rules. Traffic rule violators in Kerala paid Rs 95.27 crore as fine to the motor vehicles department last year.

Modernisation drive

Kerala Police is undergoing a modernisation drive. Apart from using IT-based solutions, including apps, it is doing away with the age-old wireless sets to graduate to digital mobile radio communication. Last year, the police in Thrissur district started a trial using the modern wireless sets made by leading communications companies including Motorola. The digital sets can also be used to record photographs and send text messages. The new communication system will be linked to the police crime mapping system. Officers said that they expect the new system to make crime investigation more efficient. The Kerala police is going for tier three of the digital mobile radio communication devices. Their counterparts in Delhi and Maharashtra are using older versions.
