Kozhikode: A 27-year-old woman, who had made honeytrapping as a business to extort money from affluent people, was arrested by police in Kerala's Kozhikode district on Wednesday.

According to cops, Shameena, a native of Kodungalloor in Thirssur district, was nabbed for blackmailing a resort owner with nude photos and extorting money.

The police had earlier arrested two persons who had helped Shameena in the extortion racket.

Cops revealed that the gang had rented out a room at the resort at Kakkadampoyil in Kozhikode district last month. Shameena, along with her friends, then lured the resort owner, a Thiruvambadi native, into the room and clicked pictures of him and the woman in nude and recorded a video also. The gang then blackmailed him threatening that the photos and video would be circulated among people. The asked for Rs 40,000 first. The resort owner paid it. However, the gang grew greedy and asked for Rs 5 lakh as next instalment.

This time, the resort owner approached the cops, who investigated into the case and got some clues leading to the arrest of Shameena's two aides -- Koombara native Don and Thiruvambadi native George. The duo provided enough information about Shameena, who was later nabbed by police.
