Belfast: A Keralite nurse was killed in a road accident in Northern Ireland.

The deceased has been identified as Shymol Thomas of Pala in Kottayam district.

She was travelling with other Keralite nurses when their car rammed a vehicle on Friday evening.

The accident happened on the north-south A26 road near Ballymena around 6:45pm local time.

Another nurse and her son also suffered injuries in the accident and were admitted to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast. The condition of the injured nurse is said to be critical.

These nurses belonged to the Antrim Area Hospital.

The police carried out the rescue operations. An air ambulance was also pressed into service.
