Mavelikara: A 63-year-old man died of heart attack before he could claim Rs 60-lakh prize money of a lottery draw.
C Thambi, a native of Mavelikara in Kerala's Alappuzha district, is the man who turned out unlucky despite Lady Luck smiling on him. He sold lotteries too at with his wayside shop at Kochalummoodu along the Mavelikara-Pandalam Road. Recently, he was left with 10 tickets of the Sthree Sakthi lottery that he couldn't sell. However, one of these tickets fetched the first prize.
Thmabi had submitted the prize-winning ticket at the Mankamkuzhy branch of the Federal Bank.
Using the prize money, Thambi planned to expand his shop and help his children. However, fate willed otherwise.
After he complained of chest pain, he was rushed to the Mavelikara district hospital from his home. But his life could not be saved.
Thambi is survived by wife Saraswathi, children Saritha and Savitha, and sons-in-law Biju and Anil.
Thambi had worked at the industrial estate at Kochalummoodu before setting up his kiosk.
