In the wake of the CoVID-19 scare, the Mata Amritanandamayi Math in Kollam has put in place restrictions at the Ashram.

A notice on the Ashram's website says that visitors will not be allowed and that the current ban applies to both foreign and Indian nationals.

Thousands of devotees from India and abroad used to attend the darshan at the Math everyday.

“We are sorry to inform you that due to the extremely heightened restrictions specified to the Mata Amritanandamayi Math as preventative measures by the Health Department — including mandatory quarantines, daily health checks, and other protocols — currently, the Ashram cannot allow anyone to enter Amritapuri Ashram. This includes Indian nationals as well as foreign-passport-holders (including OCI-holders). This includes both day visits and overnight stays. This policy is irrespective of any amount of time the individual may have been within the nation of India,” said the notice issued by the Math authorities on their website.

It also says, “With prayers and grace, this situation will change. Until then, please feel free to check for updates.”

The government asked states to form rapid response teams at district, block and village levels after the number of coronavirus cases in India rose to 31 on Friday.
