Palode: A 44-year-old maths teacher, who garnered attention over his virtual classes on the KITE ViCTERS channel, died after falling into a stream near Palode in Thiruvananthapuram.
G Binu Kumar of the Vithura Government UP School was found dead on Saturday. He is suspected to have slipped off a bridge near his home and fallen into the stream. He had suffered injuries to his head.
When Binu did not return home late on Friday night, his family members made enquiries. They came to know that one of Binu's friends, the principal of a parallel college, had dropped him off near his home by 9pm. Though Kerala Fire Force personnel and people carried out a search in the night, they could not locate Binu.
The body was found near the Palode police station on Saturday morning. Due to heavy overnight rain, the stream had overflown and the body was washed on to a nearby plot of land.
Binu is survived by his wife Krishnapriya, a teacher at a private school, and a daughter, class VIII student Devananda.
Binu's class, which was telecast on Thursday, will be re-telecast at 4pm on Sunday.
The teaching fraternity and people of his village have paid homage to Binu.
