Recovering from COVID-19, Ranni family returns to Italy

Ranni: A family who reached Aythala here from Italy was the first to be infected by COVID - 19 in the second phase of the pandemic witnessed in Kerala. The three-member family has now returned to Italy.

Moncy Abraham of Pattayil, Aythala, his wife Ramany and son Rijo Moncy took a flight for Paris via Hyderabad from Nedumbasssery Airport. They had received the police clearance certificate the other day. The family had to wait for around two weeks to get tickets on the same flight.

The family had reached Ranni from Italy on February 28. The COVID-19 infection came to light when Moncy's brother sought treatment at Taluk Hospital for fever. On March 6, the family from Italy was admitted to Pathanamthitta General Hospital after COVID-19 tests were positive. The next day, Moncy's brother and wife living in Ranni tested positive. On March 8 morning, the test results were made public.

After treatment, the family from Italy and their relatives in Kerala recovered from the disease on March 28.
