Two arrested for cyberattack on journalists in Kerala, let off

T J Jayajith and V U Vineeth

Thiruvananthapuram: The cyber police arrested two people for defaming media persons on social media. The arrested were Deshabhimani employee V U Vineeth, a Kollam native, and Kundara native T J Jayajith. But they were let off on bail.

The arrests were made one and half months after a case was filed for circulating sexually explicit messages against Manorama News chief news producer Nisha Purushothaman.

However, the accused were not booked under the offence of insulting the modesty of a woman. Instead, the duo were charged with only minor offences for the cyberattack. Thus, they were let out on station bail.

The cyberattack was carried out against media persons, who criticised the government.
