Rahul Gandhi’s 2019 flood relief kits found abandoned

Nilambur: In a shocking incident, food kits arranged by Congress leader and the local Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi during the floods of August 2019 were found rotten in a room here. The flood relief kits were stored in a shop room in a private building in front of the old municipal office. Some people had recently taken the room on rent and the incident came to light when they came to open it. The kits had pictures of Rahul and contained food as well as clothes.

V V Prakash, president of the District Congress Committee, said that the matter would be taken up seriously. “The local Congress committees were in charge of the distribution of kits. There were no complaints from other areas. Stringent action will be initiated in case lapses are found,” he said.

Meanwhile, CPM and DYFI activists took out a procession in protest against the incident.
