Alappuzha: Fast and friendly customer service is often hard to come by in some government departments. A cashier of the Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEBL) in fact showed how public servants can deliver goods flawlessly and quickly. On October 18 the Alappuzha South electrical section office was witness to a unique feat for which the cashier, S K Feroze Khan, was honoured by the KSEB by naming a high-tension distribution line after him!

Khan processed altogether 437 bills within a span of five hours receiving Rs 8,51,080. Without the assistance of a currency-counting machine, Feroz received the cash from each consumer, listened to their complaints, removed doubts and sat through the entire period to achieve this feat.

Khan was as efficient as a powerful currency-counting machine while collecting and processing electricity bills that day.

The KSEB which identified the hero in Feroze honoured him by giving his name to an Aerial Bunched (AB) Line.

This is the first time that KSEB has given an employee's name to its electricity distribution line.

The south section authorities apprised the KSEB higher-ups about Feroze’s efficiency in service and with their permission named the distribution line from Sakaria Bazar Transformer, which is near his house, as Feroze Khan A B line.

“I am happy that my name has been given to an Aerial Bunched (AB) line. This will remain as Feroze Khan AB Line for years to come,” he said while sharing his happiness.

Feroze Khan started his career as a government employee at the revenue division of the Kannur Collectorate. While shifting to KSEB his first job in the power department was also in Kannur at the Madayi section.

Salina Kuttaserry is his wife and F K Fardeen Khan son.
