Alappuzha: Even as he could not bear the suffering of his son's untimely death, H Salim, father of murdered SDPI state secretary KS Shan, has appealed to the public to not orphan families in the name of politics.

"What happens if someone else is murdered in retaliation? It will only lead to the destruction of more families. It is not right for a state like Kerala," Salim told Manorama News.

The elderly citizen could not hold back his tears as he thought of Shan's "two small children" urged the public to not let any more children be orphaned out of hatred.

"I have many friends who are members of BJP and CPM. We have lived as friends and so did he.

"He was the pillar of the family. As I am reeling with age-related issues, he protected my family and his.

"He never hurt a soul and could never let anyone harm others. But blood-thirsty men brutally murdered him," said a tearful Salim.

Hours after the murder of Shan on Saturday night, OBC Morcha leader Renjith Sreenivasan was also hacked to death in the city. According to police sources, both were political murders.
