Thiruvananthapuram: The 24-hour strike planned from Wednesday midnight by autorickshaws, taxis and light motor vehicles operators under the banner of Confederation of Transport Workers have been called off.

The decision came after Kerala Transport Minister Antony Raju held a meeting with the representatives of the unions.

The minister said that the demand to raise tariff was genuine and appointed a committee headed by a judge to submit a report within a month. A decision on tariff hike will be taken after the report is submitted.

All labour unions except the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) had planned to participate in the agitation.
