Kochi: Manorama News Senior Correspondent S Mahesh Kumar is among the winners of the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards.
Mahesh Kumar bagged the award for investigative journalism. He won the coveted award for the news series "Operation Nepal Gold".

The award carries a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a citation. The award will be given away at a function to be held in March.

Mahesh's report was selected from among the investigative reports that appeared in the media countrywide in 2019. He exposed the activities of the international gold smuggling racket through his news series after making an adventurous trip with the gangs who smuggled gold from Nepal to India.

Ram Nath Goenka Memorial Foundation Chairman Vivek Goenka told mediapersons that there was stiff competition in this category and Mahesh's achievement was commendable.
