Alappuzha: The Director General of Police has issued high alert throughout the state based on an intelligence warning over possible clashes between RSS and SDPI activists.

It is understood that the alerts have been issued in the wake of the two political murders that took place in Alappuzha in mid-December.

The district police chiefs have been told to maintain a high alert in the coming days, especially on Wednesday.

The reason being cited is that RSS has planned a series of protests at various places in the state on Wednesday. They are reportedly demanding a ban on SDPI.

The intelligence has warned of a possible confrontation between the two outfits, mainly in the strongholds of SDPI and RSS.

On the night of December 18, SDPI state secretary KS Shan was knocked down from his bike and hacked to death at Mannancherry here while on his way home.

In an alleged retaliation to the killing, BJP's OBC Morcha state secretary Ranjeet Sreenivas was hacked to death inside his residence in the town within 12 hours.

The police are yet to arrest all the accused in the two 'political murders'.
