Kozhikode: Kerala police on Thursday nabbed the man who attacked activist Bindu Ammini.

The man has been identified as Vellayil native Mohandas.

He had attacked Ammini at Kozhikode north beach where the latter had arrived in connection with a court case.

Speaking to Manorama News, the activist said that she was attacked without provocation.

She also alleged that the RSS was behind the attack.

"I'm being attacked constantly. So it is not shocking," Ammini had said.

Citing how she had warned the Koyilandi special branch officer about a possible attack and how no measures were taken, she alleged police inaction and added that she "does not expect to get any justice from the Kerala police."

"They want to arrest me instead of the one who attacked."

The investigation was carried out by Kozhikode city police.

Ammini grabbed headlines when she attempted to visit the Sabarimala temple in 2019 following a Supreme Court order permitting women of all age groups to pray at the hill shrine.

However, protests by religious fanatics that mushroomed then staved off any attempts by anyone to do so.

Ammini was among the handful few who attempted the trek despite the protests.
