Thiruvananthapuram: Emergency vehicles of the Kerala State Electricity Board Limited (KSEBL) will feature multicolour flashers.
The Motor Vehicles Department has given permission to the KSEB to use blue, red, white flashers in its vehicles when they are used during natural calamities, accidents and other emergencies. The nod has been given on basis of the rules on beacons and flashers as laid out by the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
In the first phase, the colour flashers would be installed in vehicles which are certified by the chief engineer for such emergency purposes.
KSEBL chairman B Ashok said a vehicle each under the deputy chief engineers of transmission and distribution circles would have such colour flashers. There is also permission to install colour flashers in the vehicles of board directors under emergency circumstances.
The KSEBL has also decided to buy electric vehicles in place of the old diesel and petrol vehicles that are to be phased out. All new vehicles purchased by the Board will have the official blue and white colour.
