Actor Dileep has filed a counter-affidavit in the Supreme Court.

Kochi: Dileep has moved the Supreme Court saying further investigation was unnecessary in the 2017 actor assault case.

Dileep has claimed in his counter-affidavit filed before the apex court that the prosecution wants to delay the proceedings until judge Honey Verghese was transferred.

Earlier, the state government had approached the Supreme Court requesting permission to extend the trial as the allowed duration ends next month.

While granting an extension earlier, the apex court had said that the trial cannot be dragged any further.

However, the state government had filed an affidavit claiming it had fresh evidence to further the probe. With the court set to consider the government's plea, Dileep has filed this counter-affidavit.
