End to Governor-LDF Govt tiff: Arif Mohammed Khan to discharge Chancellor's duties again

Thiruvananthapuram: In a likely sign of a thaw in the frosty ties between Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan and the Pinarayi Vijayan Government, the former has again taken up the assignment of the Chancellor of the Universities in the State after recently announcing that he has relinquished it in protest against the alleged political interference in the higher education sphere.

Ice broke after Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan sent four letters to the Governor, assuring the latter that there would not be any political interference in the affairs of the universities in future.

Apart from writing letters, the Chief Minister also spoke to the Governor twice and explained the government's position before embarking on his trip to the United States for treatment a week ago.

Now, the Governor has started attending to files related to administration and academic matters of the universities in the State.

It might be recalled that after getting the three letters, the Governor had told the media that he was satisfied with the Chief Minister's stand.

It was after that the Chief Minister delivered another letter to the Governor directly at Raj Bhavan through a high-ranking person in the CM's Office. Later, the Chief Minister spoke to the Governor over the phone.
