6 young women run away from govt children's home in Kozhikode, one found at Bengaluru

Kozhikode: One of the six young women who ran away from the Government Children's Home at Vellimadukunnu here was found at Bengaluru on Thursday.

A police team from Kerala found the youngster at a hotel at Madiwala while the others, including two sisters, had managed to flee. The police have intensified the search, reported Manorama News.

The youngsters had managed to sneak out of the Children's Home after 4 pm on Wednesday. They had climbed over the institution's wall behind its kitchen.

It is alleged that the staff of Children's Home had not alerted the authorities until at least three hours after the youngsters had fled.

The State Commission for Protection of Children's Rights has registered a case based on media reports.

The commission's member, B Babitha told media persons that a report has been sought and further action will be taken based on the explanation.

The Chevayur Police that is probing the case suspects that the youngsters had run away with outside support and made it to Bangalore, by train or bus.
