Trivandrum Archbishop Dr Soosa Pakiam announces retirement, Dr Thomas Netto to succeed

Thiruvananthapuram: Dr Thomas Netto has been named the new archbishop of the Latin Archdiocese of Trivandrum. He will succeed Dr Soosa Pakiam, 76, who announced his retirement on Wednesday.

The Vatican is expected to ratify Dr Soosa Pakiam's decision soon.

Auxiliary Bishop Christudas Rajappan will be officiating on behalf of Soosa Pakiam until the papal order arrives.

Dr Soosa Pakiam has been unwell for quite some time. He has also served as the president of the Kerala Catholic Bishops Council.

The incoming archbishop Netto belongs to the St Nicholas parish at Puthiyathura. He was serving as the coordinator of the Latin Archdiocese of Trivandrum.
