The survivor in the 2017 actor sexual assault case in Kerala has moved the Supreme Court seeking an investigation into the alleged leaking of the visuals of the crime from a lower court.

The female actor has written to the Chief Justice of the apex court saying her privacy has been violated with the visuals being leaked. A copy of the letter has been submitted to President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Human Rights Commission.

In her letter, the actress says act of opening the visuals without permission was a shocking incident. She said she has been meted out with grave injustice even though she hoped that she would get justice from the court.

It is suspected that the visuals got leaked from the Ernakulam District Sessions Court. The state forensic department had on December 20, 2019 confirmed in the trial court that the visuals had been leaked.

The female actor has moved the apex court even as the trial in the case is in its final stages at a special court in Kochi.

The actor, who has worked in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films, was abducted and allegedly sexually assaulted in her car for two hours by some of the accused, who had forced their way into the vehicle on the night of February 17, 2017 and later escaped in a busy area. The entire act was filmed by some of the accused to blackmail the actress.

There are 10 accused in the case, including Malayalam actor Dileep, and police have arrested seven. Dileep was arrested subsequently and released on bail. Dileep is accused of plotting the entire crime as an act of revenge.

The police recently filed a fresh case against him on charges of conspiring to harm the police officers who investigated the 2017 case and arrested him. He has moved the Kerala High Court seeking anticipatory bail in the new case and the court is scheduled to pronounce the verdict on the plea on Monday.
