Kochi: The case under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act registered against Roy Vayalat, the owner of 'No. 18' Hotel in Fort Kochi, has taken a curious turn with the accused alleging that the police were adopting a hostile attitude towards him.
According to Roy, a police officer in particular has dealt with him in an antagonistic manner after the death of the former Miss Kerala and runner-up in a road accident while returning from a party at his hotel.
Meanwhile, more minor girls and young women have raised complaints of sexual harassment against Roy and his co-accused Saiju Thankachan and Anjali Rima Dev. The statements of the complainants have been registered in the presence of the magistrate.
At the same time, the police questioned Roy and let him off as the High Court stayed his arrest till Wednesday, considering an anticipatory bail plea filed by the hotel owner.
Roy's bail plea also claimed that it was the hostility of the police that led to the POCSO case. Roy said that he had received a threat through an advocate of being foisted with false cases and disgrace if he did not settle the financial dispute between Anjali - who is the third accused in the POCSO case - and the complainant.
In another allegation, the hotel owner said that a person belonging to Kozhikode had made several threatening calls to him a month ago.
Roy's bail plea further said that the complainant has been harassing him for quite some time by raising false allegations against his hotel on the social media. The POCSO case was filed after he refused to heed to the unreasonable demands of the complainant, claimed Roy.
