Saiju Thankachan, accused in models' death case, claims he was abducted

Kochi: Saiju Thankachan, an accused in the case related to the death of two Kerala models in Kochi and a POCSO case linked with 'No 18 Hotel' and its owner Roy Vayalat, claimed that he was abducted by two people from his house in Kuzhuppilly near Cherai in Kerala's Ernakulam district.

According to Thankachan, the gang demanded Rs 1 lakh as ransom. However, he managed to escape from their captivity. He also claimed that he knows the identity of one of the kidnappers.

According to reports, the incident happened on February 16 morning.

The Munambam police have registered a case and started an investigation.

Saiju Thankachan, who was remanded after his arrest in the case related to the models' death, is presently out on bail. Thankachan was arrested in the case on November 27, 2021.

Ansi Kabeer (25) and Anjana Shajan (24) had died in the fatal car crash on November 1 last year. A third passenger, in the car, succumbed to his injuries a few days later. The driver, who escaped with injuries, was later arrested.

Thankachan is accused of stalking the models from No 18 Hotel and later intercepting their car at Kundannoor in Kochi city minutes before the car crash. He is also accused of chasing them in his vehicle.
