Clash between locals, film crew in Kochi, man alleges Shine Tom Chacko manhandled him

Kochi: A dispute over dumping garbage has led to a clash between a film crew and a group of local people in Kerala's Kochi. The incident happened at Kalamassery HMT colony where the shooting for the film 'Thallumala' was progressing. Tovino Thomas and Kalyani Priyadarshan play the lead roles in the film directed by Khalid Rahman.

Two people have been hospitalised, one of them alleging he was manhandled by actor Shine Tom Chacko.

Police said the skirmish was triggered by a dispute between the crew and local people on Monday evening. The local people had questioned the film crew for dumping garbage in the area and parking vehicles blocking their way. Chacko interfered in the dispute leading to a skirmish between him and some people, eye witnesses said.

Shameer, a local resident who has been hospitalised, has alleged that Chacko manhandled him. A member of the film crew has also sought treatment at hospital alleging that he was manhandled by the local people. Police reached the spot and pacified the situation.

Though both the parties have filed complaints against each other, the police are yet to register cases saying talks to settle the issue were on.
