'White-collar beggars': Minister MV Govindan on a section of govt employees

Thiruvananthapuram: Making scathing remarks on the delay in clearing files, Kerala Minister M V Govindan has said that some people call a section of the government employees 'white-collar beggars'.

During a review meeting of the local body chairpersons and secretaries in the Thiruvananthapuram district, the Minister for Local Self-Government said, "Some call this as 'white-collar beggars'. Like this, some people, who are disgraceful and are an insult to our society, are part of this service.”

"Will not allow queries to be scribbled on files, and sent back and forth between sections. The local self-governments should be able to ensure that the services are available to the public quickly, as per their needs. If there is any issue with the applications, then the officials should be ready to meet the applicants in person and rectify it. Those who do not do this would have to face action.  There is corruption at the bureaucratic level even now. Everyone, including the administrators at the district level, should try to put an end to this,” he said.
