Will not rejoin NCP: Mani C Kappan dismisses rumours

Mani C Kappan

Kottayam: Pala legislator Mani C Kappan on Tuesday clarified that he will not return to the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

The Independent MLA was dismissing rumours that he will become a part of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) which is in power in the state by rejoining his parent party.

Reports had said that he decided to cross over from the opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) after the LDF promised to appoint him as a minister replacing incumbent NCP minister AK Saseendran.

Kappan informed that the talks he held with NCP national chief Sharad Pawar were informal and not related to politics.

"I shall meet Pawar today and tomorrow. It's part of the relationship we share," he said.

The leader added that he had raised a few concerns he had with the UDF.

NCP Kerala President PC Chacko had held a few rounds of talks with Kappan recently.

Kappan had quit the LDF in February last year ahead of the Kerala Legislative Assembly election. He severed ties with the LDF as it was keen on handing over the Pala seat to Jose K Mani of the Kerala Congress (Mani) party which had joined the ruling political alliance after parting ways with the UDF.
