Police hostile, POCSO case fake: No. 18 Hotel owner claims before court

Kochi: Accused Roy J Vayalat, the owner of No 18 Hotel in Fort Kochi, had offered Rs50 lakh for turning hostile in the POCSO case, claimed the complainant who had alleged her minor daughter was molested by him during a DJ party on November 20, 2021.

The woman, who is a native of Kozhikode, also disclosed that an advocate, who introduced himself as Roy's representative, assured her that the third accused, Anjali Reema Dev, would be nailed in the case.

'Plan was to implicate Anjali'

According to the mother, the advocate promised her that Roy would pay a lot more than what Anjali owed her. “He said Roy was even ready to pay Rs50 lakh when I said Anjali only owed me Rs15 lakh,” she said.

As per the complainant, she was offered money on returning to Kozhikode after filing a police complaint. “The advocate came to meet me along with a social worker and made the offer,” she said.

Quoting the advocate, the complainant said, “Roy was ready to give the money which you had to get from Anjali. Now, you cannot do anything to help Roy. Following the arrest, the accused will be in jail for a minimum of 35 days. During the trial, you should behave as though you are not interested in the case. By turning hostile in the case, Roy will escape. Otherwise, he is looking at a minimum of 20 years in jail. We will pin Anjali in this case. I have incriminating evidence against her and a list of people who want to see her behind bars. We will surely implicate her. After all, Anjali is your main target, isn't she?"

When the complainant asked the advocate why was Roy clearing the dues owed by Anjali, he supposedly said “they are all in one league.”

She told Manorama Online that she had informed police of the entire conversation the advocate had with her.

Roy was charged under POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act following the complaint. His partner Saiju Thankachan and friend Anjali are co-accused in the case. Police are also looking into a complaint that Anjali tried to sexually abuse the minor daughter of an employee. Several girls have come forward with similar complaints.

Both Roy and Saiju surrendered before the police on Sunday and Monday, respectively. Roy was arrested earlier by the police for destroying evidence related to the death of models Ansi Kabeer and Anjana Shajan. He was later released on bail by a magistrate court, but went missing once he was booked under POCSO.
