Thrissur: A women entrepreneur, who was allegedly waylaid and hacked by her former employee, died while undergoing treatment on Friday.

Rincy Nazar, 30, was riding a scooter home from her textile showroom with her children aged 10 and five when Riyas, 25, of Puthiya Veedu, knocked her off the two-wheeler with his bike and hacked her at least 30 times and severed her three fingers around 7:30pm on Thursday.

Police said Riyas was earlier employed at Rincy's textile showroom, Nirakkoottu, near KVHS School at Eriyad. The man followed Rincy's scooter before overtaking and attacking her.

Riyas fled the scene on his bike as local residents responded to the scared children's screams. He is still at large.
