MLA's wife behind POCSO case, claims Anjali Reema Dev

Kochi: Kozhikode-based businesswoman Anjali Reema Dev, a co-accused in the POCSO case filed against 'No 18' hotel owner Roy Vayalat, on Wednesday alleged that the wife of a legislator is behind the false case against her.

The POCSO case is a result of a conspiracy against me by six people, including the wife of an MLA, Anjali told Manorama News here. However, she did not reveal the identity of the person or the MLA to the media.

These people are trying to trap me as I spoke against their hawala deals, Anjali claimed.

Anjali also disclosed that she had shared the details with the probe agency and will come out with evidence soon.

Meanwhile, Anjali appeared before the Special Investigation Team on Wednesday for questioning for the second time. She had secured an anticipatory bail from high court earlier.

Earlier, in a video posted on Facebook Anjali had alleged that six individuals, including politicians, volunteer organisations, trustees and businessmen, had been trying to trap her in the case.

The case

Anjali, Roy Vayalat and his partner Saiju Thankachan were booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act following the complaint of a Kozhikode-based woman.

The woman alleged that Vayalat had molested her 17-year-old daughter during a DJ party at his hotel on November 20, 2021, and that Anjali paved way for this abuse.

The complaint further states that Anjali lures young girls by promising them work at her marketing consultancy in Kozhikode. Girls working for her are preyed on often, said the complainant who worked at Anjali's firm for two-and-a-half months.

The No 18 hotel has been in the news ever since two models were killed while returning from a DJ party there during the wee hours of November 1 last year.

According to the complainant, models Ansi Kabeer and Anjana Shajan were also brought to the Fort Kochi hotel on the day of the accident, and seven days before.
