Daily wage for NREGA workers in Kerala hiked to Rs 311 from today

New Delhi: The new rate of daily wage for workers under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) Scheme will be Rs 311 in Kerala. This is Rs 20 more than the current wage  of Rs 291 in the State. 

The new rates will be applicable from April 1.   

There is more than 10 percent hike in daily wages in almost 10 States, including Kerala. The increase ranges from Rs 4 to Rs 21 in these States. The Union Rural Development Ministry issued the notification in this regard.

Under the scheme, thé workers will get the highest amount of daily wages in the State of Haryana. The revised rate there is Rs 315.

Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh are the two States where the daily wages given under the scheme are the lowest. It is only Rs 204 in these States.

In Tamil Nadu, the daily wage is Rs 281, while in Karnataka it is Rs 309
