Kozhikode: Former Inspector General of Police and Kozhikode City Police Commissioner AV George on Saturday laid bare the details of his investigation into the 2017 actor assault case that rattled Kerala.

George's revelations came shortly after his retirement from the Kerala Police after 34 years of service the other day.

The move to arrest actor Dileep was made based on proper evidence. The attack on the actress was assigned to a 'quotation' gang, he said.

"There were no loopholes. We also investigated the case without giving it any special treatment," George told Manorama News.

He also dismissed there being any pressure from political parties. "There was some pressure from the film industry, but we cops know better than to heed it," he added.

A frontline south Indian heroine was abducted and sexually assaulted by a gang in 2017. The assault was recorded in a bid to blackmail her.

After main accused Sunil was arrested and questioned, Dileep was accused of being the main conspirator in the case and arrested.
