SDPI activist's murder: 5 conspirators in custody; Subair's funeral held

Five that allegedly took part in the conspiracy to murder SDPI activist Subair (43) have been taken into custody.
It is understood that all five are natives of Elappully, where the murder took place at Friday noon and the nearby region of Para.
Those in custody are understood to have provided support to the accused and participated in the conspiracy.
Four of them were nabbed at Kazhchaparambu in Palakkad while attempting to escape to Kodungallur in a car.
Within 24 hours of the murder of Subair, local RSS activist Sreenivasan was hacked to death in the Palakkad town. It is alleged that the killing of Sreenivasan was in retaliation to the murder of Subair.
Funeral procession held
Subair's funeral was held near the Juma Masjid at Elappully on Saturday. Earlier, a procession had accompanied the vehicle that took the body to his residence after post-mortem.
Subair had been hacked to death while returning home with his father Aboobacker after offering prayers at a mosque.
Aboobacker sustained injuries after falling from the bike, which was rammed by one of the two cars used by the assailants.
A second car had been abandoned at the crime scene. At least five persons are directly involved in the murder, the police suspect.
