Gynecologist arrested while taking Rs 3,500 bribe for uterus removal at Thodupuzha

Idukki: A gynecologist at the District Hospital in Thodupuzha was on Thursday taken into custody by the Vigilance while taking bribe from a patient.

Junior consultant Dr Maya Raj, who hails from Palakkuzha, was caught while receiving Rs 3,500 as bribe for performing a uterus removal surgery and related treatment.

Apparently, she demanded Rs 5,000 first but returned Rs 1,500, considering the poor financial background of the patient.

The Vilgilance nabbed her while taking Rs 3,500 as bribe. 

The Vigilance team, consisting of DySP Shaju Jose, CIs Dipson Thomas, Mahesh Pillai, K R Kiran, officials K G Sanjay, Stanley Thomas, Shaji Kumar, Sanal Chakrapani, K N Santhosh, Krishna Kumar and more made the arrest at the doctor's residence at Koothattukulam, reported Manorama News.
