Youth manhandled, dumped naked on road; ex-girlfriend arrested

Ernakulam: The police have arrested a woman in connection with the attack on a youth who was dumped naked on road in Ernakulam. According to reports, the youth was in a relationship with this woman. The accused is identified as Varkala native Lakshmipriya.

A quotation gang attacked the youth as directed by Lakshmipriya, police said. It is learnt that the woman plotted the crime with a quotation gang and her current boyfriend after the youth refused to end his relationship with her.

Lakshmipriya is named as the first accused in the case. Earlier, police arrested Ernakulam native Amal (24), the eighth accused in the case.

Police said that eight people including Lakshmipriya attacked the youth. Six of the gang are currently absconding.

The incident took place on Wednesday. The youth was kidnapped in a car owned by Lakshmipriya's current boyfriend.

Talking to Manorama News, Lakshmipriya's mother said her daughter was not in a relationship with the young man. 

"Both of them were friends. However, he later started verbally harassing her and even sent lewd videos to her phone. She had told me about asking her friends to help her get rid of his trouble," said Lakshmipriya's mother.

She further said Lakshmipriya did not give any quotation to assault the youth. "It must be her friends who beat the youngster, not my daughter. She would never do something like that. Lakshmi is a talented student. You can ask her teachers if you doubt it," she said.

'Main accused demanded ransom to release son'

The father of the youngster has alleged that Lakshmipriya demanded money to release his son. He revealed that the girl and her friends brutally assaulted his son. He too stated that the duo were not in a relationship.

"He was beaten up inside the car. They stole his chain, watch and money before covering his face with a black cloth. From there, he was taken to an old house, where he was assaulted again. This time, they used a heavy stick to attack him and even gave him electric shocks. They have the video of all that torture. My son is yet to recover from the shock of this atrocity," stated the father.
