Customs seize over 1 kg of gold worth Rs 58 lakh from Kochi airport

Kochi: Customs sleuths recovered over 1 kg of gold from a passenger on Tuesday. Weighing 1,182.94 grams, the gold seized was estimated at Rs 58 lakh approximately.

The accused, Mohammed Irfan of Palakkad, reached Kochi from Muscat on an IndiGo flight.

He was intercepted at the green channel by Customs officials, who recovered four capsules of gold in compound form concealed inside his body on examination. Further investigations are going on.
