The India Meteorological Department has sounded a yellow for Palakkad, Idukki, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta districts. Kerala is likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated places on Tuesday. The India Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms, lightning and gusty wind speeds reaching 30-40 Kmph.

Though the Met department has not issued any alerts for the day, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode districts continued to experience incessant rains on Tuesday. Hilly areas of the state continue to witness heavy downpours. Several houses were inundated in the state capital.

Meanwhile, a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclone on Monday. The cyclonic storm has been christened 'Hamoon', a name given by Iran.
The storm is very likely to cross the  Bangladesh coast, around 12 pm on October 25 as a deep depression, the Met Department said.  Even though the cyclonic storm will not have any major impact on the Indian coast, Odisha is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall today.
