Alappuzha: CPM leader G Sudhakaran has once again claimed that he is being sidelined in Ambalappuzha, the Assembly constituency he represented for three successive terms.

In a Facebook post, the former PWD minister took umbrage over not being acknowledged for his role in the infrastructure development at a government school in Punnapra near Alappuzha.

Sudhakaran criticised the people’s representatives for failing to point out his omission during the inauguration of the project he had funded as MLA of Ambalappuzha.

Sudhakaran said that while it was “harmful” for the government to create an impression that the development projects that were allowed in the past were being fulfilled only now, such things are constantly taking place in Ambalappuzha.

Sudhakaran's comments are the latest in a series of remarks he has levelled against the party leadership. Sudhakaran, known for his sharp remarks, has kept away from mainstream politics after being omitted from the CPM state committee.

Earlier in the day, H Salam MLA inaugurated the construction activities of a new three-storey building at the Paravur Govt Higher Secondary School. The building will house 11 classrooms, one dinning hall, three toilet blocks, and store rooms. The Left- backed Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society is implementing the project.

Excerpts from Sudhakaran post:
“The construction of a new building at the Paravur Government Higher Secondary School in Punnapra has been initiated with the help of Rs 3.90 crore allotted by the Kerala Government. In the previous government, that is in the first Pinarayi government, myself, as the MLA here, took the initiative and allocated a few crores of rupees for infrastructure development to a few high schools and higher secondary schools. A building was constructed and inaugurated at Ambalappuzha Model School at a cost of Rs 6 crore. A sum of Rs 3 crore was sanctioned for the Purakkad Naluchira School, besides Rs 3.50 crores to Ambalappuzha North Panchayat Kakkazham Government High School and Rs 1 crore to Ambalappuzha Kunchupilla Memorial High School.

“The Paravur Government Higher Secondary School was allocated Rs 3.90 crore and the construction of a building using this fund was inaugurated today. That the fund for this project was proposed and sanctioned by me who was the MLA and the minister here during the previous government should have been added in the programme schedule by the principal, headmistress and PTA president. While the current representatives of people should have pointed out the omission, the same didn't happen. The actions of today's people's representatives are likely to be repeated tomorrow when new people replace them. It should not happen that way. It is nothing but an administrative failure.”
