Newborn's body found in Kozhikode's Nelliyadi river

Kozhikode: The body of a newborn baby was found in the Nelliyadi River at Keezhariyur. The remains of a baby boy were found near Kalathinkadavu, close to the Nelliyadi bridge. The body was spotted around midnight by local residents who had gone fishing.
The infant's body was found with the umbilical cord still intact. Koyilandy police arrived at the scene and moved the body to the taluk hospital. The police have filed a case suo motu under section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita (inquiries into deaths) and initiated an investigation. It remains unclear whether the baby was abandoned or if it was involved in an accident with others.
