Thiruvananthapuram: Lakshmi, wife of violinist Balabhaskar, reiterated that driver Arjun was behind the wheel of the car at the time of the accident that claimed the lives of her husband and child. In an interview with Manorama News, Lakshmi confirmed that her last memory of the incident was of a startled Arjun in the driver's seat. She added that the vehicle was overspeeding.
"I have motion sickness, so I was sitting in the front seat with my daughter on my lap. I clearly remember my conversation with Balu, who was sitting in the back seat. He had told me he was going to take a nap. That was our last conversation. I opened my eyes when the vehicle crashed, and then I saw Arjun sitting shocked in the driver's seat. That was my last memory. I became unconscious within seconds," she said.

This is the first time Lakshmi has given an interview to a news channel after the accident. Rubbishing rumors about their trip to Vadakkumnathan Temple in Thrissur, the late musician's wife asserted that there was no last-minute change in their plans.
"We headed to Vadakkumnathan Temple to offer prayers for my child. Balu had told me that we would return to Trivandrum after the temple visit. There was no change in our plan," said Lakshmi.
She also dismissed the allegations that their vehicle had been chased and attacked.
“If I ever felt someone hatched a conspiracy to kill my husband and child, I would definitely file a complaint with the city police commissioner and call all the media. No one can hush up me. I'm an ordinary woman who finds her husband and child as her universe,” said Lakshmi responding to the cyberbullying against her.
Despite having health issues, I cooperated with the police and CBI in the probe into the accident. Talking about Arjun's move naming Balabhaskar as the driver during the time of accident, Lakshmi said tha he changed the statement to save himeself from the charges.
"I don't know why Arjun changed his statement. Perhaps someone advised him to do so, as Balu is no longer here, and I may not reveal the truth anytime soon," she said.
Balabhaskar and family met with the car accident on September 25, 2018 at Pallippuram on National Highway 66 while returning home after visiting Vadakkumnathan temple in Thrissur. The violinist who sustained critical injuries died of cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment at Ananthapuri Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on October 2, 2018. His daughter was killed on the spot, while his wife and driver sustained injuries.
