Thrissur: A 25-year-old Mumbai native was taken into custody by the Thrissur East Police on Tuesday for performing dangerous skating stunts at Swaraj Round.

The police registered a case against Subrata Mandal, a concrete worker, for posing a threat to public safety and disrupting vehicular movement. The incident occurred around noon on December 10, 2024, when Subrata was seen recklessly skating between vehicles, grabbing onto moving auto-rickshaws, and performing high-speed stunts. He entered Swaraj Round from AR Menon Road via Naikanal Junction and proceeded towards Sakthan Nagar through Municipal Office Road.

A video of his stunts went viral on social media on December 11, 2024, prompting police action. In the video recorded by a passerby, he says that he was originally from Kolkata. The Thrissur East Police registered a case under Section 118(e) of the Kerala Police Act (KP Act) for endangering public safety (case number 2054/2024).

Although the police registered a case earlier, they were unable to locate him immediately. However, the police apprehended him on Tuesday afternoon when he was skating again at Swaraj Round.
