Kozhikode: A woman died after her shawl got caught around her neck while riding a scooter in Thamarassery late Monday. The accident occurred near the old checkpost in West Kaithapoyil.

The deceased, Sudha, was the wife of CPM Puthupaddy, local committee member West Kaithapoyil Kalladikummal Vijayan.  Despite being rushed to Kozhikode Medical College, she could not be saved.

Sudha is survived by her children Stalin, the CPM Chemmaram Patta Branch Secretary, and Mumtaz, an employee at the Puthupaddi Cooperative Bank Agri Farm.
