Kerala's beverage outlets recorded Rs 152.06 crore in alcohol sales during December 24 and 25, 2024, a sharp rise from Rs 122.14 crore on the same dates in 2023. This marks a significant 24.50% increase (Rs 29.92 crore) in sales, driven in part by higher alcohol prices, said the Kerala State Beverages Corporation in an official release on Thursday.

On Christmas Day alone, Rs 54.64 crore worth of alcohol was sold through beverage outlets, a 6.84% increase from Rs 51.14 crore in 2023.

Meanwhile, on Christmas Eve, total sales reached Rs 97.42 crore, including Rs 71.40 crore from outlets and Rs 26.02 crore from warehouses. This was up from Rs 71 crore in outlet sales on December 24, 2023, reflecting a 37.21% increase.
