6-year-old dies, 25 hurt as tourist bus overturns in Kozhikode

Kozhikode: A 6-year-old girl died and 25 people sustained injuries after a tourist vehicle overturned at Kuliramutty in Koodaranji on Monday. The deceased, Elisa Puthukkudi, suffered serious injuries to her head.
The group, reportedly relatives from Chankuvetty, Kottakkal in Malappuram, was returning from a resort stay at Poovaranthodu.
The accident occurred when the tempo traveller the tourists were travelling in skidded and crashed into an electric post before overturning, an eyewitness told media. Local residents conducted the initial rescue operations and transported the injured to KMCT Hospital. The Mukkam Fire Force and Thiruvambady police later arrived for further rescue efforts.
"Another girl of the same age also sustained a serious head injury, while the remaining passengers had minor injuries," the hospital staff told Onmanorama. After an inquest by the Thiruvambadi police at KMCT Hospital, the body will be taken to the government medical college hospital in Kozhikode for an autopsy.
