Thiruvananthapuram: A 43-year-old man who set himself on fire at the Thiruvananthapuram CPM district conference on December 23 died on Monday. Ratheesh (43), a native of Vizhinjam, succumbed to severe burns while under treatment at the medical college hospital.
During the district conference, Ratheesh, reportedly intoxicated, attempted to climb onto the stage but was stopped by CPM workers, reported Manorama News.
Later, he poured petrol on himself and self-immolated while sitting on a chair, police said. Financial issues led him to take such a drastic step, police added.
