Madrasa teacher gets 10-year jail term for sexually assaulting Kasargod boy

Kasaragod: The Hosdurg Fast Track Special Court sentenced a 32-year-old Madrasa teacher to ten years imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor boy. Judge Suresh P M delivered the verdict.
Additionally, the court imposed a fine of Rs 10,000, and if it is not paid, the accused will have to serve another three months in prison, said public prosecutor Advocate Gangadharan A.
The accused, Muhammad Ajmal, is a native of Neerchal in Badiadka grama panchayat. He is found guilty under sections 3 and 4 (1) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The sections for penetrative sexual assault prescribe a minimum punishment of 10 years, which may be extended to life imprisonment.
The prosecution said that the madrasa teacher took the boy to his room on the mosque premises and sexually assaulted him one afternoon in June 2022.
Kasaragod Vanitha Police registered the case based on the boy's complaint. The case was investigated, and the charge sheet was submitted to the court by the then Vanitha Police Inspector Leela K.
