Kottayam: The police have barred two habitual offenders from the Kottayam district by invoking the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA). Akhil T Gopi, 29, from Poovarani in Pala, has been expelled for one year, while Mathews Roy, 24, from Peruva in Mulakulam, has been barred for six months. The actions follow a report by District Police Chief A Shahul Hameed.

Akhil faces charges related to attempted murder, house break-ins, robbery, and drug trafficking across Kumarakom, Kottayam West, and Thodupuzha police jurisdictions. Mathews Roy is accused of murder, attempted murder, theft, and drug dealing across the Velloor, Kaduthuruthy, Ettumanur, and Kannur town police stations.
