Thiruvananthapuram: A Class 12 student of Government Higher Secondary School, Poovachal, was stabbed by a group of Class 11 students near Bank Nadu Junction on Saturday. The injured student, Muhammed Aslam, has been admitted to a private hospital with severe injuries.

School authorities said that tension has prevailed on the campus following frequent clashes between students of class 11 and 12.  The assailants reportedly included a former student who is currently studying at Vellanad School.

In November, a clash broke out between students from both classes over a social media post, leading to injuries to several individuals, including the school principal, Priya. ''This appears to be a continuation of that altercation. The clashes between these groups have been a persistent issue. Teachers remain vigilant, supervising students during breaks and even monitoring them near the bus stop in the evenings,'' Priya told Onmanorama.

The conflict between the two groups reportedly began in July when Class 11 students assaulted Class 12 students. A case regarding that incident is still ongoing in the Juvenile Court. ''Afsal, the injured, was also involved in the July clash,'' Priya added.

The students involved in the previous incidents have not been readmitted to the school. During the November clash, the principal, the PTA president, and others sustained injuries.

Onmanorama reached out to Kattakada police station for further details, but the officials were not available for comments.
