First Malayali police officer in New Zealand weds Punjabi groom in Pala Cathedral

Pala: In a ‘global’ wedding that took place at Pala Cathedral in the Kottayam district of Kerala, Aleena Abhilash (24), the first Malayali police officer in New Zealand, became wife to Karanveer Singh Saini (27), who hails from Punjab.
Fr. Robin Kurien Koyikkattil performed the ceremonies. Aleena is the daughter of Pala natives Abhilash Sebastian of Pulikkal, Ullanad and Bobby of Puravakkad, Pizhaku, who settled in Palmerston North, New Zealand.
Aleena had studied in Chavara Public School, Pala, till class 6 before she went to New Zealand along with her parents. Aleena has a brother, Albi, who is a law student.
Karanveer is an assistant manager with the firm Tommy Hilfiger in Auckland, New Zealand. His parents are, Harbhajan Singh Saini, who is a businessman, and Harinder Kaur Saini. Karanveer has a sister, Manrit Kaur, who is a teacher.
