A holiday has been announced in six districts of Kerala for Tuesday in view of the Pongal celebrations. The districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Palakkad, and Wayanad, which share a border with Tamil Nadu, will observe the holiday, according to the government calendar.

Pongal, also known as Thai Pongal, is a traditional Hindu harvest festival celebrated in Tamil Nadu. It typically falls on January 14 or 15, which is the Thai month in the Tamil solar calendar.
